On July 4, on the South Lawn of the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a new law aimed at cutting taxes and federal spending, previously passed by both chambers of Congress. The document, which Trump called “a Big, Beautiful Law,” includes substantial tax reductions, record investments in border security, and significant government spending cuts, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Reuters.

The signing ceremony took place against the backdrop of Independence Day festivities, attended by several hundred supporters of the President, including administration officials, lawmakers, and military families. The event was complemented by a flyover of stealth bombers, similar to those recently involved in strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

In his speech, President Trump stated that the law features “the biggest tax cut, the biggest spending cut, and the largest investment in border security in American history.” Following his remarks, Trump signed the bill, posed for photos with Republican leaders in Congress and members of his Cabinet, and walked among the cheering crowd.

The passage of the bill marked a significant win for Republicans ahead of the upcoming elections. GOP officials claim the new policy will stimulate economic growth, although independent analysts warn that it may increase the national debt by over $3 trillion—bringing the total to $36.2 trillion.

The opposition responded with strong criticism. Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Ken Martin accused the President of sealing the Republican Party’s image as one that serves billionaires and lobbyists while disregarding working families. Martin called the legislation “a betrayal of the American people” and predicted that it would remain a burden on Republicans for many years to come.
