Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated he is actively supporting Ukraine as the country continues to defend itself against Russia’s military aggression. He made the statement on Sunday while speaking to journalists during a trip from New Jersey to Joint Base Andrews near Washington, reports Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Ukrinform.
Responding to a media question on why he doesn’t support Ukraine as strongly as he does Israel, Trump said: “I am helping Ukraine, I am helping it a lot.” He also reiterated his long-standing position that the war would never have begun had he been president at the time. Trump once again claimed that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged.”
Additionally, the former president commented on his most recent phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He described the exchange as “a good conversation” and noted, “He took a very hard hit.”
In this context, Trump also repeated that he was very disappointed by a previous conversation he had with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
