Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that he respects Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but believes that he made several wrong decisions regarding the war with Russia. Orbán shared his views in an interview with the Polish TV channel wPolsce24, reports Baltimore Chronicle, citing WP Wiadomosci.
Orbán emphasized that he follows the principle of respect in international relations, and this also applies to Ukraine and its president. “He is the elected president of Ukraine. I always try to behave properly because that is necessary for maintaining good relations. Therefore, I respect President Zelensky, but I believe he has made mistakes,” Orbán said.
According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, one such mistake was Zelensky’s rejection of his proposal last year to make peace with Russia. “He dismissed my interpretation that time is working in favor of the Russian side, and now we have what we have. President Zelensky’s situation is not easy. It’s very difficult to unite a nation that is involved in a hopeless war,” Orbán added.
