The European Commission has approved a new, nineteenth, package of restrictive measures against Russia. However, the decision will only become final once it is endorsed by the EU member states, reports Baltimore Chronicle citing eu-baustoffhandel.de.
According to European Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho, an official statement will soon be delivered by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas. Their joint address is expected after 3:00–4:00 p.m. Kyiv time.
The sanctions package must still undergo the approval procedure in the Council of the European Union, and only after a vote by the member states will the decision be considered final.
