How to eat to avoid gaining weight in winter: recommendations from a nutritionist

During cold weather, the body's insulin resistance increases, fat accumulates not only under the skin, but also around internal organs, in the cells of the pancreas and liver. We gain extra pounds in winter due to a less active lifestyle, as well as the desire to eat more fatty foods. Nutritionist Oksana Skitalinskaya told what nutrition should be like this season in order not to gain weight.

On her Facebook page, Skitalinskaya told what we can do for our health and to maintain our figure in winter. First of all, the nutritionist advises including more fiber in your diet – carrots, pumpkin, beets, rye bread. In addition, it is worth supplementing the diet with products that contain vitamins C and D, as well as fish oil, informs NBN.

According to the expert, fermented foods – soaked apples, sauerkraut – will help maintain normal metabolism and cucumbers, fermented milk products, beet kvass.

The nutritionist noted that alcohol slows down metabolism. It is important to drink enough warm water throughout the day for the effective functioning of biochemical processes in cells.

Skitalskaya emphasized that in winter it is important to get a good rest at night, since lack of sleep increases insulin resistance. For this reason, many people begin to perceive sugar as if they have diabetes.

The expert urged not to forget about physical activity, which lowers insulin resistance and helps food not turn into fat.

Previously, a nutritionist told me whether it is possible to eat sushi while losing weight.
