The analyst recalled that at the end of February, Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin will deliver a message to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The occupiers are in a hurry to capture Avdiivka before this event, sparing no resources, NBN reports with reference to Apostrophe.
According to Kovalenko, there is no confirmation yet that the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine sent the 3rd Special Brigade to the city for reinforcements , which is one of the most combat-ready brigades of the Ukrainian army.
The expert called the situation in Avdiivka difficult, since street fighting has begun there and the invaders are trying to block the road inside the village. The Russian Armed Forces have concentrated almost all their resources near the city and they do not have free reserves that they could transfer to this section of the front. The analyst noted that it would be difficult for the invaders to pass through the fortified Ukrainian Armed Forces coke plant in order to reach the highway.
Kovalenko emphasized that the defenders would need to be withdrawn from Avdiivka in time so that they would not be surrounded, and the command should feel this moment. In his opinion, the military leadership controls this scenario and will understand when it will be necessary to move troops.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces spoke about the possibility of operational encirclement of Avdiivka by Russian troops.
