Analysts explained how the EU will be able to cover Ukraine’s military needs

About the fact that, in accordance with the estimates of a group of German researchers, our country may need 2 times more military cargo from the European Union in order to be able to timely fill the “gaps” caused by the failure to provide American assistance, NBN writes, referring to Bloomberg material.

According to analysts at the Kiel Institute Ukraine Support Tracker, the future regarding the stability of US military assistance remains extremely uncertain, and for this reason, EU support may be the only serious option for Ukraine, given continuous invasion of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that during the time period from November 1 last year to January 15 this year, the volume of declared military assistance for Ukraine amounted to 9.8 billion euros (10 .6 billion dollars), which is much less than 27 billion euros allocated in the same period in 2023, of which, according to researchers, at least 21 billion euros were allocated by the United States.

German experts added that meeting Ukraine's needs is a very difficult task, however, in the end, it is all a matter of political will. In particular, EU member states are among the richest in the world, yet have still not spent more than 1 percent of their own GDP, the 2021 level, on providing support to Ukraine .
