The head of the Ministry of Energy said that the recent massive attacks by Russian troops on the Ukrainian energy system brought much more damage than large-scale shelling of the relevant infrastructure in the winter of 2022-2023.

NBN reports this with reference to the British publication The Guardian.

According to the minister, up to 80% of thermal generation , more than half of the country's hydroelectric generation and a large number of substations were attacked by Putin's occupying forces. Gerashchenko clarified that the latest attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities are the biggest blow to the energy system since the beginning of a full-scale war.

The official noted that the scale of these attacks and their consequences are much greater than previous attacks by the “second army of the world” on the Ukrainian energy in winter in 2022-2023. The aggressor country has modified its weapons; in addition, missiles and rockets cause great damage to the infrastructure.

Recall that the British edition of the Financial Times spoke about the new tactics of the invaders’ attacks on the Ukrainian energy system.
