The ISW analytical material notes that a ground operation by Putin’s occupation forces against Kharkov is unlikely in the near future, informs “ MFN.”
However, as American experts write, the “second army of the world” may launch an attack on the regional center in the summer, given the Russian Federation’s efforts to create strategic reserves and redeploy forces to the front.
According to analysts, the threat of an offensive by the aggressor country's troops on Kharkov or Sumy is apparently forcing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to redistribute its limited personnel and equipment to the construction of defensive fortifications in these regions.
The Russian Armed Forces have the opportunity to allocate significant resources , counting on achieving breakthroughs in sectors of the front line of their own choosing. In addition, Putin’s army can use sections of the front that were previously vulnerable due to the overturning of personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
ISW analysts previously explained why the Russian invaders are in a hurry to advance in the Kharkov region.
