The Guarantor, during a joint press conference with President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola in the Ukrainian capital on Thursday, May 9, recalled that our country is waiting for the steps of the European Union, which are necessary for negotiations on its integration into the EU.

NBN reports this with reference to the publication Evropeiskaya Pravda.

The head of state emphasized that Kyiv has fulfilled all the conditions for next month the negotiation framework has been approved and the corresponding process for Ukraine's accession to the EU has begun.

According to the Ukrainian leader, in addition, the expansion of the European Union should go beyond the list of states that have received candidate status. In particular, the president considers it necessary to have membership in the organization of the Balkan countries, Moldova, as well as Georgia and the Republic of Belarus.

Interestingly, Zelensky did not name Turkey on this list, which has candidate status, while negotiations on its accession entry into the European Union has been stopped.

Recall that in December last year, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized Ukraine’s likely membership in the EU. The president complained that his state has been “standing at the door” of the organization for more than 10 years.
