ISW explained why Putin replaced Shoigu with Belousov

About the fact that Putin decided to rotate personnel in the departments, because he seeks to expand preparations for a long war with Ukraine, and, apparently, to strengthen the combat potential for a likely confrontation with NATO member countries, writes NBN , citing Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

As it became known, the removed Shoigu will take the place of the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, in turn replacing Nikolai Patrushev. According to analysts, such reshuffles of the Russian elite, immediately after the presidential elections, indicate that Putin is taking significant steps towards the mobilization of the economic sphere and the military-industrial complex (defense industry) of the Russian Federation, simply by transferring them ;on “war tracks.”

In addition, Belousov’s almost ten-year tenure as head of the Ministry of Economy of the Russian Federation, including his recent participation in the management of various Russian innovation projects in the defense sector, as well as the development of “domestic” drones allegedly prepared him well for the leadership of the defense department of a terrorist state, which at this stage found itself in a rather complicated situation.

The Institute for the Study of War summarized:

Belousov has a strong reputation as an effective technocrat, and insider sources claim that he has  positive relations with Putin.

Earlier, we wrote about what ISW called the key factor that could lead to the defeat of Putin’s army in Kharkiv region.
