On the air of Ukrainian Radio Kharkov, Tymoshko said that over the past three days Volchansk has suffered in a way it has not suffered since the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022. The Russian Armed Forces use a large number of KABs to shell the city, NBN reports.
According to the chief of police of the Kharkov region, aerial bombs weighing 250 and 500 kilograms demolish multi-story buildings, turning Volchansk into Bakhmut or Marinka. The target for the enemy is not only Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, but also rescuers and law enforcement officers, so armored vehicles are used to evacuate civilians.
Timoshko noted that the “second army of the world” is using the traditional “scorched earth” tactics in Volchansk: first they cover artillery fire, then drop aerial bombs and enter the territory. For this reason, any person who does not leave the city will suffer from an enemy attack.
Earlier, the city military administration told when the entire population of Volchansk would be evacuated.
