Zelensky explained why Ukraine needs to return the 1991 borders

Not so long ago, the Ministry of Defense stated that Ukraine’s strategic goal is to reach the 1991 level, not excluding the return of the entire territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, as well as the Crimean peninsula.

About what if the “second army of the world” remains on the territory Ukraine this will turn the war into a frozen conflict, increasing the risks of repeated aggression by the Russian Federation, writes NBN, citing an explanation by President Vladimir Zelensky published by Radio Liberty.

According to Zelensky, now This is not so much about the return of occupied territories, but about the salvation of people and the Ukrainian state. Since Ukraine is not a NATO member, it does not have a defense umbrella.

The President of Ukraine stressed: it is vital that Putin loses and his army leaves the Ukrainian regions, otherwise the war will go into a frozen state phase, and it’s only a matter of years before he comes again with invasion, and he will do it, if he does not regain control over the territories within the 1991 borders.

Zelensky added  – the ideal way to stop the war is to begin preparing a plan and organize a second Global Peace Summit over the next months:

For the world to press on Putin to stop the war.

Earlier we wrote that Zelensky called on the United States to allow the Armed Forces of Ukraine to hit targets occupiers in the depths of the Russian Federation.
