Zelensky spoke about how security guarantees strengthen Ukraine, speaking about NATO membership

Head of State Vladimir Zelensky spoke about the advantages of security guarantee agreements that Ukraine signs with other states. The president also said that our country has become closer to joining NATO.

At the end of the Washington NATO summit, the Ukrainian Treaty was adopted, which became an addition to the G7 Joint Declaration. Speaking at this event, Zelensky said that during the year active work continued on a “reliable architecture of security guarantees for our country,” NBN reports.

The guarantor recalled that Kyiv signed 23 agreements and such documents will be signed with other states. Thanks to such agreements, Ukraine received long-term commitments for military assistance, additional air defense systems, the development of defense cooperation and progress in the issue of sending F-16 fighters.

The President emphasized that such agreements strengthen our country, but do not replace its goal join the North Atlantic Alliance.

Making joint statements to the media with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the head of state noted that Ukraine is close to membership in the organization, the next step towards which should be an invitation to the Alliance.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba named four key topics that the president discussed at the Washington NATO summit.
