About the fact that London did not actually give Kyiv unequivocal permission to use Storm Shadow missiles on objects on the territory of Russia, writes NBN, citing a statement by an official of the local defense department published in The Telegraph.
According to the British official, the government's position on Ukraine's use of the long-range weapons provided has not changed, despite Starmer's recent comments: British officials are concerned that such permission would provoke an escalation of the war, thereby drawing the UK into a “conflict with Russia”.
In addition, Storm Shadows have allegedly not been used by Ukraine this year, and, according to representatives of the UK Ministry of Defence, Zelensky needs to look for “guarantees elsewhere” before Ukraine is allowed to launch cruise missiles at Russia, since Starmer's assurances are not final, due to the “more delicate” situation.
In particular, for to obtain permission to launch Storm Shadow at an aggressor country, the consent of the governments of several states will be required: one of which is Great Britain, and the second is France, which produces this type of missile.
