Budanov assessed the risk of Putin’s army advancing from northern Ukraine

In accordance with the data of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the border with the northern Chernihiv and Sumy regions there remains the presence of a group of Russian occupation forces, regularly shelling populated areas from the territory of the Russian Federation, and at the same time increasing the density of mine-explosive fields along the borders of Ukraine .

About the fact that the situation regarding possible attacks by the “second army of the world” on  Ukraine from the northern regions has become somewhat aggravated recently, writes NBN, citing a statement by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov, published by NV.

According to Budanov, if he answers the question about a potential Russian offensive from the north, he could provoke panic in Ukraine. The only thing that can be said now is that a number of problems have been identified that have a tendency to escalate: we are talking about the plans of a terrorist state to mobilize another 300,000 Russians to intensify the offensive of the invaders both in the east and in the north in the short term.

However, Budanov decided to calm down Ukrainian society a little:

You see, this is a slightly anecdotal situation for me… When everyone was shouting for 2 years, “Now there will be an attack from the north,” we told everyone, “This won’t happen.” There was nothing. At the moment when we said that there would now be an attack from the north, all at once—or maybe there won’t be?

Earlier we wrote about the fact that ISW reported the timeframe within which Ukraine could move from defense to counteroffensive.
