An identical situation arose in 2023: the US Department of Defense reported that after the discovery of an accounting error that inflated the cost of weapons provided to Ukraine in 2022-2023, an opportunity opened up for additional shipments worth $6.2 billion.

As NBN reports, citing Reuters material, the US Defense Department encountered similar additional errors that distorted the calculations for the supplied ammunition, missiles, and other equipment sent to Ukraine.
In particular, such “blunders” will allow an additional $2 billion in various weapons to be sent to military aid to Ukraine.
In addition, the US government report disclosed that the Pentagon incorrectly assessed defense items sent to Ukraine due to some vagueness of definitions: in their accounting documentation, the US military used replacement cost to compile “price lists” for military aid, and was not based on the purchase price of weapons at the time of their acquisition and the depreciation after subsequent depreciation.
Earlier, we wrote about the Pentagon explaining why the US does not allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to fire ATACMS missiles at Russian territory.
