Pletenchuk explained why the Russian Navy is afraid to launch missiles from the Mediterranean Sea at Ukraine

After a series of successful attacks by Ukrainian aquadrones that sank or damaged about 30 Russian ships, the aggressor country was forced to change tactics in both the Black and Azov Seas, leaving only submarines in the waters and withdrawing the remaining surface forces to the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

As reported by NBN with reference to the explanation of the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmitry Pletenchuk, which was voiced during the telethon on the YouTube channel “TSN”, the Russian fleet is capable of launching Kalibr cruise missiles at Ukraine from missile carriers based in the Mediterranean Sea, but there is one important nuance.

According to Pletenchuk, the territory of Ukraine is theoretically located in the zone of destruction of the Russian naval grouping stationed in the waters of the Mediterranean. However, in practice, enemies are unlikely to dare to use Kalibr cruise missiles.

This can be explained quite simply – the Russian Federation is afraid to launch missiles from the Mediterranean Sea, since in this situation it would violate the airspace of the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance, automatically triggering Article 5 of the NATO Treaty (collective defense of all states included in the bloc at the same time).

Earlier, we wrote about how the Supreme Commander of NATO forces in Europe assessed Ukraine's strategy in the war with the Russian Federation.
