British intelligence assessed the prospects for eradicating corruption in the Russian Defense Ministry after the arrest of a number of officials

Recently, the deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Dmitry Bulgakov (responsible for the logistics of Putin's army, in particular, rations), was arrested in the Russian Federation. He became the seventh high-ranking military functionary taken into custody amid personnel purges following the removal of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

As reported by NBN, citing the official X-account of the UK Ministry of Defence, contrary to the intentions of the current Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov, who is trying to completely eradicate corruption in the department under his control, it is highly unlikely that the newly appointed official will be able to eliminate identical abuses in defence procurement.

According to analysts from British military intelligence, in general, corruption is very typical for the Russian defence-industrial complex, and it is forced to be tolerated within certain limits, as well as until the persons involved in the fraud are able to take advantage of the necessary degree of political patronage.

According to the UK Ministry of Defence, the full-scale war against Ukraine has slightly intensified the fight against corruption in the Russian Federation in practical terms, and not only because the Kremlin is seeking to reduce the waste of budget funds, but also because the political “elite” has lost direct influence on procurement processes.

Earlier we wrote about the fact that British intelligence revealed the reason for the cancellation of the Russian Navy parade in Kronstadt.
