The EU responded to Hungary's decision to simplify entry for Russians and Belarusians

Not long ago, Budapest published details of an updated system for fast-track visa processing for citizens of eight countries, including Russia and Belarus, allowing entry into Hungary without security checks or other restrictions.

As reported by “NBN” with a link on the official X-account of EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson, the countries of the European bloc are concerned about Hungary's amended visa rules for foreign “labor” arriving from Russia and Belarus (allegedly for the construction of a nuclear power plant).

According to Johansson, appropriate measures should be taken to ensure that Russians who potentially pose a threat of espionage or an identical risk to EU security “face a high level of scrutiny.”

The EU Commissioner stressed that such a dubious decision by Budapest could undermine the principles of security within the visa-free Schengen area, while calling on the Hungarian authorities to clarify their position by August 19, otherwise Brussels will take the full range of necessary measures on its own.

Earlier we wrote that the EU is developing a scenario to support Ukraine in the event of Trump's victory in the presidential race.
