As NBN reports with a link to material from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), on Friday, August 2, the former deputy commander for logistics of the 144th motorized rifle division of the 20th combined arms army of the Moscow Military District, Colonel Dmitry Peshkov, was arrested in the Russian Federation. , accused of theft of funds for the purchase of food rations.

According to ISW analysts, Peshkov's arrest appears to be the next stage in the Kremlin's focused efforts aimed at removing senior Russian officials from the Defense Ministry. ;RF. It is assumed that this trend may indicate attempts to introduce indirect punishments by the command for the failures of subordinate units, or in order to leave only loyal and obedient officers in the ranks of Putin’s troops.
