On Wednesday evening, August 7, a representative of the Office of the President of Ukraine commented on the events in the Kursk region for the first time on the air of the national telethon. Podolyak did not confirm that the Defense Forces are conducting the battles in the border region of the Russian Federation.
According to the official, the effectiveness of such a tool as military actions is gradually increasing, NBN reports
The representative of the OPU emphasized that the situation in the Kursk region will affect how the neighboring country understands this war due to additional losses of the occupiers in the region, the increased cost of the invasion of Ukraine and the psychological impact on Russians.
Podolyak explained that it will be possible to get something from Russia during the negotiations, to put pressure on it and not allow it to dominate if the Kremlin realizes that the war is not going according to their scenario.
As the Politexpert publication writes, Moscow is guided by Putin's maximalist demands for the start of negotiations. The Russian Federation continues to claim that Zelensky's Peace Formula ignores the interests of the aggressor country, and dialogue with Kiev is possible only after Ukraine's complete capitulation.
Recall that ISW assessed the reaction of the Russian authorities to the military actions in the Kursk region.
