Russia has redeployed units from the Chasovy Yar area to defend Kursk region — ISW

The Russian Federation, apparently, is gradually moving “manpower” from the front line in Ukraine to strengthen the defense of the Kursk region (about 5,000 people), where the Defense Forces are currently continuing their offensive.

As reported by NBN with a link to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Russian generals nevertheless decided to redeploy additional units from Chasovoy Yar (Donetsk region) to the Kursk region, trying to expand counteraction to the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In particular, on the eve of August 20, the “mouthpieces of the Kremlin” reported that the 11th airborne brigade of Putin’s army allegedly fired at Ukrainian armored vehicles in the south of Russkaya Konopeltsy (east of Sudzha). It was these units of the “second army of the world” that were recently deployed near Chasovoy Yar. It is assumed that the paratroopers replaced or supplemented the advanced units of the Russian Armed Forces, and not the units that participated in the combat operations.

ISW analysts believe that the Russian military command, it seems, is categorically unwilling to withdraw most of the controlled military units from priority sectors in the Donetsk region, since they are reasonably afraid of a subsequent slowdown in the pace of the offensive in the Eastern direction.

We previously wrote that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are achieving success in the Kursk region, but the offensive has slowed down somewhat.
