The Kremlin has probably instructed Lukashenko to step up his activities on the border in order to create the illusion of a threat and thus force Ukraine to disperse its forces.

According to the Belarusian opposition, Lukashenko has already begun moving military equipment and personnel to the Gomel region. This involves the transfer of several helicopters and one to two thousand soldiers. However, these actions are more reminiscent of show maneuvers than preparations for a real attack.

The main goal, according to experts, is to force Ukrainian troops to reorient themselves from operational tasks, for example, in the Kursk region, to defending the border with Belarus.

In addition, Belarusian multiple launch rocket systems “Polonez” were deployed on the border with Ukraine. These weapons may pose a potential threat, as they are capable of striking Ukrainian territory. However, their number is limited, and at the moment they have only been used during exercises. The effectiveness of these systems in a real combat conflict remains questionable.

The deployment of Belarusian aviation and air defense systems near the Ukrainian border also confirms Lukashenko's desire to create tension in the region. Following the recent announcement of the deployment of a significant part of the army along the border with Ukraine, these steps look like an attempt to show loyalty to Moscow and continue the policy of provocations.

Recall that earlier we wrote that Lukashenko accused Ukraine of using “Polish mercenaries” in the operation in Kursk.
