The White House has rejected a Pentagon proposal to send American contractors to Ukraine to repair/maintain Western weapons, including the F-16.

As NBN reports with reference to The Wall Street Journal, the debate in the administration of US President Joseph Biden regarding the possibility of sending American civilians to Ukraine has become more acute after the arrival of the F-16s.
In particular, the National Security Council considered a number of proposals to send private contractors to Ukraine, but intelligence and others pointed out the risk of such steps, as they are concerned about a potential attack by the Russian Federation on American citizens in our country.
At the same time, Washington shifted such responsibility to the EU, as it hopes that European partner countries will take on most, and possibly the entire range of maintenance of F-16 fighters.
However, some Pentagon representatives again spoke in favor of sending specialists, but this time for the repair of military equipment, but both Biden and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, emphasized that the US Department of Defense has not drawn up adequate plans to respond to the event that technical personnel are attacked by Russia.
Thus, sending Americans to Ukraine still remains the Biden administration's “red line.”
