Germany will continue to strengthen Ukraine's air defense without restrictions – Pistorius

On September 4, negotiations were held in Berlin between the heads of the defense ministries of Ukraine and Germany, Rustem Umerov and Boris Pistorius, and the results have now become known.

As reported by “NBN” with a link On the official X-account of the German Embassy, ​​the head of the German Ministry of Defense Boris Pistorius, during the implementation of the above-described negotiation process, promised his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov maximum support from Berlin, excluding any reservations.

According to Pistorius, Ukraine's air defense remains the focus of German support: this year, the Bundeswehr will send our country IRIS-T systems, not excluding ammunition for them and the Gepard air defense system.

The head of the German defense department summed it up:

We will continue to help and after that—without any “ifs” and buts.”

It should be noted that Germany intends to transfer to Ukraine another 8 IRIS-T SLM systems and 9 accompanying IRIS-T SLS complexes: two air defense systems will be sent in 2024, the remaining ones—during 2025.
