As NBN reports with reference to WccfTech material, experts expected several greater achievements from the new A18 and A18 Pro processors than they ultimately saw.

In particular, the smartphone, codenamed iPhone 17.3 (indicating the iPhone 16 model), managed to score only 3,114 points in single-core and 6,666 points in multi-core testing. The latter figures were the most surprising, as they are lower than those of the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the processor of the previous series, the Apple A17 Pro. However, it is not known for certain whether the A18 or A18 Pro processors were tested, but the clock frequency of 4.04 GHz indicates that it was definitely one of the newly released smartphone models.

It should be noted that the lower result in the multi-core test, judging by everything, is due to the fact that the Geekbench 6 benchmark has not yet been updated, and therefore does not correctly display the real capabilities of the new chip.

For example, a similar situation was recorded after the announcement of the Apple M4 processor, when the results were also lower than those of the outdated version of the chip— M3.
