Umerov reported where Ukraine will spend additional billions on defense

On Wednesday, September 18, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a decision to amend the draft budget, which provides for an increase in defense spending by 495.3 billion hryvnia this year. Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced where the funds will be spent.

Umerov thanked the Verkhovna Rada MPs for the allocated 495.3 billion hryvnias. He explained that this money will allow Ukraine to better support its defenders and strengthen its defense capabilities.

According to the head of the department, Kyiv will spend 274.4 billion hryvnia of this money on payments to military personnel and their families, NBN reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

The minister noted that another 76.2 billion will go to the purchase of weapons and equipment, which will help modernize the Defense Forces and increase their combat effectiveness. The priority will be to purchase the necessary equipment from domestic weapons manufacturers.

As reported, the American Institute for the Study of War named two factors on which Ukraine's ability to repel Russian invaders depends.
