A study has revealed how the “borscht index” has changed across Ukraine’s regions (INFOGRAPHICS)

Over the past four years, the so-called “borscht index” has grown significantly across the country's regions.

As reported by NBN with reference to the Telegram channel of the restaurant resource Reve ta Stognye, in accordance with research data from the establishment automation company Poster, the price for one plate of a national dish in domestic catering establishments in 2020 was 55 hryvnia, and in the current year – 110 hryvnia.

It should be noted that the “borscht index” is an economic indicator designed to help assess the difference in the cost of identical products in different regions.

For example, borscht is most expensive in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions — 130 hryvnia and 129 hryvnia, respectively.

Next comes Kharkiv region with a plate price of 120 hryvnia, and also the capital, where a portion of borscht costs 110 hryvnia.

At the same time, the most affordable borscht is in Ternopil region (60 hryvnia) and in Sumy region — 65 hryvnia.
