Zhang Xiaogang added that the “Taiwan issue” is the first “red line” in Sino-American relations that should not be crossed, and therefore it is better for Washington to fulfill its obligations without supporting Taiwan's independence, that is, simply “stop arming it.”
At the same time, the Chinese official emphasized that Beijing will continue to strengthen the military training of its army, aimed at preventing a “separatist plot for Taiwan independence.”
