As NBN writes with a link The U.S. military has moved a destroyer and deployed a missile unit to Alaska, according to Politico, as it seeks to bolster its presence in the region amid growing tensions over the past month as Russia and China intensify their actions.

Over the past month, the U.S. has reassigned the destroyer USS Sterett to patrol Alaskan waters, while simultaneously landing troops on a remote island and putting fighter squadrons and other aircraft on high alert.

The actions are believed to be a direct response to a series of provocations by Russia, with the aggressor country's warships increasingly appearing off the coast of Alaska, and enemy aircraft have repeatedly flown near the airspace of the American state.

Also, recent joint exercises of the Russian and Chinese fleets in the Pacific Ocean have increased the level of concern in Washington.
