As NBN reports with reference to The New York Times, the chairman of the committee on issues of foreign affairs of the US Senate Ben Cardin had to talk to an unknown man who introduced himself as former Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba.

As it became known, the other day the senator's headquarters received an email (allegedly sent by Kuleba), in which the senator was asked to talk to a former Ukrainian official via Zoom messenger, while, during the video call, the attacker both looked and spoke like the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

However, Cardin soon developed reasonable suspicions, since “Kuleba” began asking “politically motivated questions” related to the upcoming US presidential elections. In addition, the unknown person was too interested in the “delicate issues” of American foreign policy, in particular, whether the senator had decided to support long-range strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian territory.

However, the senator managed to end the conversation in time and report it to the leadership of the US State Department, which confirmed that the conversation was conducted with a deepfake model (AI imitation of the appearance and voice) of Kuleba.

Earlier, we wrote about how much former Foreign Minister Kuleba earned in his position.
