The Bild publication stated that the major offensive of the “second army in the world” in the Kursk region with the aim of returning the border region under Moscow's control has failed, NBN reports.

The media recalled that in the middle of last month, Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin said that Russian forces must recapture the entire Kursk region by October 1.

However, the counteroffensive of the Russian Armed Forces was delayed – only on September 17, the tanks of the occupation forces were able to advance south from the urban-type settlement of Korenevo. Soon, Moscow changed the deadline for returning the border region, stating that Putin's army has until the middle of next month.

As journalists note, however, these plans of the invaders also seem illusory: the Ukrainian Defense Forces do not plan to leave the region, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is transferring additional units to its territory. Now the defenders are trying to outflank the Russian counterattack in Kursk and force the enemy to defend itself in several directions at once.

Recall that the head of the Central Intelligence Agency, Alexander Kovalenko, said that Putin accuses the FSB of losing the Kursk region.
