Apple Lists 'Vintage' and Outdated Macs

The Cupertino company recognizes its technology products as obsolete and “unfit for use” if more than 5 years have passed since they stopped appearing on the market.

As reported by NBN, citing a report from MacRumors, Apple has officially designated 12 Mac computer models as obsolete and will no longer receive operating system updates.

The list of such “old” devices includes various MacBook laptops and iMac desktop computers released between 2015 and 2018. The oldest “gadgets” in this list are the MacBook Air (manufactured in early 2015), as well as three versions of the iMac and one MacBook Pro (released in the last month of 2015).

Also, among other models called “morally obsolete”, there is the 13-inch MacBook Pro (manufactured in 2016), the 12-inch MacBook (manufactured in 2016) and the 13-inch MacBook Pro (manufactured in 2017).

At the same time, the newest device in the above list was the 13-inch MacBook Pro with four Thunderbolt3 ports (“hit the shelves” in 2018).
