Croatian PM says Putin is main reason for EU expansion

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic is convinced that Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin stimulated the expansion of the European Union by invading Ukraine.

In an interview with Bloomberg, the Croatian Prime Minister said that the head of the Kremlin was the main reason for the EU expansion. According to the politician, after the start of a full-scale war in Ukraine, European capitals have become more open to expanding the organization, NBN reports.

The representative of Zagreb noted that the Russian dictator is most conducive to Ukraine's accession to the European Union; Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina have also begun membership negotiations. In addition, five more Western Balkan states are at different stages of integration into the EU.

The head of government believes that in the next five years it will be interesting to see how each of these countries fulfills the criteria to become a member of the organization. Plenkovic added that Croatia is always ready to support the progress of its neighbors.

As reported, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Germany is ready to contain Russian aggression in Europe.
