On Monday, October 7, Orthodox Ukrainians honor the memory of the holy martyrs Sergei and Bacchus, who lived in the 3rd-4th centuries, during the time of the emperor Maximian. The Roman ruler actively fought against Christians, NBN reports, citing the RBC-Ukraine publication.

Roman soldiers Sergei and Bacchus refused to sacrifice to pagan gods, so they were arrested and tortured. Despite the cruel trials, they remained faithful to God. According to legend, both were executed for their faith with a sword. The Orthodox Church canonized the martyrs, who are an example of steadfastness during persecution.

On this church holiday, it is forbidden to wear old clothes, accept gifts from strangers, quarrel, gossip and complain about your life. This day is also considered unlucky for engagements and weddings, since family life can be unhappy.

Also today, Sergei, Mark, Nikolai, Joseph, Leonty and Demyan celebrate their angel day. Don't forget to congratulate them on their name day, wishing them health, success in all endeavors, reaching new heights, love and happiness.

As reported, the Office of the Prosecutor General stated that Ukrainian relics stolen by Russian occupiers have begun to appear on the world “black market”.
