The commander of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade explained that at the end of last month, the situation in Ugledar, Donetsk region, was very tense, especially on the flanks, which did not allow the Ukrainian Defense Forces to hold the city.

According to him, the fighters of his brigade actually found themselves in a tactical encirclement in the settlement, NBN reports, citing Glavred.

Okhrimenko explained that in such conditions, it was difficult for the defenders in the city to replenish ammunition, carry out evacuations, and reserves could no longer approach, since they were under fire from the Russian Armed Forces.

At the end of last month, the ratio of forces and means in Ugledar was 1:9 in favor of the enemy, the Russians had more personnel, tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery and anti-tank weapons. Also, the situation in the south of the region changed so much that holding the city was losing its significance.

Earlier, the retreat of the fighters of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade from Ugledar was commented on by the commander of the UAV unit Igor Lutsenko. He said the defenders' exit from the city was difficult and bloody.
