German Foreign Ministry says Putin declines phone call with Scholz

The head of the German Foreign Ministry said that the Russian leader is not ready to discuss ending aggression against Ukraine. The diplomat noted that the Kremlin dictator refuses to accept peace and sends another signal in favor of war every day.

The head of the German Foreign Ministry said that Putin even refused to have a telephone conversation with the German Chancellor, NBN reports, citing Reuters.

The Berlin representative added that Ukraine is ready to achieve a fair peace, but the head of the Kremlin is not ready to discuss the topic of mediation in achieving this goal.

At the beginning of the month, the German newspaper Die Zeit reported that the head of the German government wants to call the Kremlin for the first time in two years. According to the publication, the German politician intended to talk to the Russian dictator in November on the eve of the G20 summit. The Chancellor's last telephone conversations with Putin were in the winter of 2022.
