As NBN reports with reference to Reuters, unspecified officials in the administration of US President Joseph Biden believe that Iran has not decided to develop a nuclear weapon, despite Tehran's recent strategic failures (the assassination of Hezbollah leaders and a series of failed attempts to attack Israel).
According to an unnamed official of the US Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Iranian Supreme Leader [Ali Khamenei] has still not approved the resumption of the program [suspended in 2003] aimed at developing and producing nuclear weapons.
The agency points out that such an assessment of military intelligence partially explains Washington's resistance to Israel's efforts to strike Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
For example, US President Joseph Biden warned— he will not support such a move by Israel, which has caused a wave of criticism from Republicans. Simply put, American officials are confident that an attempt to destroy Iran's nuclear program will only strengthen Tehran's resolve on this issue.
