The Institute for the Study of War explained why Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin’s strategy of prolonging the war to achieve victory for the Russian Federation may not work.

The ISW analytical material notes that the head of the Kremlin is counting on the victory of the Russian invaders in a war of attrition, but the dictator's plan may fail, NBN reports.
American experts write that the invaders have received orders to conduct an offensive along the front line in northeastern and eastern Ukraine for a year in order to exhaust the Defense Forces and prevent them from accumulating resources for a counteroffensive. ISW believes that maintaining the initiative on the battlefield is a strategic priority for the Russian military leadership.
As analysts explained, the Russian leader's strategy is that his occupation army will conduct successive offensive operations ad infinitum. However, such a plan could allow Ukrainian troops to gain an advantage, since constant assaults are likely to exhaust the invaders, which will force them to slow down the pace of attacks in certain areas of the front.
In addition, restrictions on the Russian military-industrial complex will undermine Moscow's ability to support Putin's army's actions aimed at prolonging the war. Also, the aggressor country is running out of volunteers who want to take part in the so-called “SVO”, as evidenced by the Kremlin's increase in financial incentives.
Experts also note that Russia is cooperating with the DPRK, Iran and China to maintain defense production and obtain resources for military operations. However, the help of Putin's friends will not satisfy all the needs of the occupation army.
