As NBN reports with reference to the material Suddeutsche Zeitung, head of the German government Olaf Scholz criticized the “victory plan” presented the day before by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the EU summit in Brussels.

According to Scholz, the implementation of a number of points of this “plan” will provoke a further escalation of the war. In particular, the German Chancellor will not take responsibility for the current war moving into a phase of direct hostilities between the Russian Federation and the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.

In addition, Scholz stressed that Berlin's decision to provide Kiev with long-range Taurus cruise missiles is correct and will remain unchanged.

The German Chancellor added that he will block an accelerated invitation for Ukraine to join NATO, since at the summer summit of the defense bloc, both Washington and Berlin spoke out against it, having adopted a corresponding resolution. The document emphasized that such an invitation requires the consent of all allies and the fulfillment of a number of membership conditions (reforming the sectors of democracy, economy and security of Ukraine).

Earlier, we wrote that Orban criticized Zelensky’s “victory plan,” calling for negotiations with the Russian Federation.
