ISW points to signs of Putin's absolute disinterest in negotiations with Ukraine

On October 18, Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin met with the heads of key media outlets from BRICS member states, declaring his readiness for talks with Ukraine, but adding that Russia “will continue this fight” and “victory will be ours.”

As NBN reports with reference to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the above-described “throws” by Putin are the latest in a series of identical “messages” from the Russian dictator and other high-ranking functionaries of the Russian Federation, who contradictorily present the aggressor country as ready for the negotiation process for the sake of achieving peace, but at the same time emphasize that the Kremlin will only accept conditions that provide for the capitulation and destruction of Ukraine.

According to ISW analysts, Putin is not interested in substantive peace talks with Kiev, and the upcoming BRICS meeting will be used to legitimize the Kremlin's disinformation special operations, portraying Ukraine as ignoring a diplomatic settlement to the war.

In particular, the Kremlin tyrant assured that the Russian Federation is allegedly seeking to create conditions (that do not allow Ukraine to maintain its defense capability) for the arrival of a lasting peace, while simultaneously presenting Kyiv as an aggressor in the war unleashed by Moscow. Moreover, the Kremlin tyrant continues to promote an alternative “peace” Sino-Brazilian proposal, the key points of which benefit only the terrorist state.

ISW emphasized:

The Kremlin uses the concept of “peace plans” or “negotiations” only to encourage the West to put pressure on Ukraine and force it to make preemptive concessions on sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Earlier, we wrote that ISW explained why Putin’s strategy prolonging the war may not work.
