As NBN reports with reference to information posted on the official Telegram channel of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the distinctive feature of this exchange is that the released Ukrainians were previously “sentenced” by the Russian judicial system.
In particular, the aggressor country “sentenced” 28 Ukrainian prisoners of war to long-term “servitude”, and another 20 to life imprisonment, ignoring the fact that they were defending their own land.
Among those who returned home 69 soldiers/sergeants and 26 officers: fighters of the National Guard, Navy, Armed Forces of Ukraine, State Border Service and representatives of the Security and Defense Forces units that defended Mariupol, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Kherson regions.
The Coordination Headquarters added: those released suffer from serious illnesses and the consequences of severe injuries, and have lost most of their weight due to regular torture and malnutrition.
