As NBN reports with reference to Bloomberg material, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Gerasimova made an official statement: Russia squandered almost 100 million euros in the hope of interfering with the presidential elections and the referendum on EU membership that were held in Moldova.

According to Gerasimova, Western partners need to realize one thing: Moldova is a testing ground for new political technologies, and anything that works here will later be used in other countries.

The Moldovan official added: the Kremlin’s priority goal is to prevent Moldova’s integration into the EU by disseminating the narrative that membership in the European bloc is tantamount to choosing war. In particular, the establishment of a pro-Russian government in Moldova is seen in the Kremlin as gaining leverage in the war against Ukraine.
