Ambassador Lukasiewicz explained under what conditions Poland will provide Ukraine with the remaining MiG-29s

Not long ago, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski claimed that his country had transferred almost 400 tanks to Ukraine and was studying the possibility of sending an additional batch of MiG-29 fighters.

As NBN reports with reference to Ukrinform's material, the Polish chargé d'affaires In Ukraine, Piotr Lukasiewicz said, “Warsaw will be able to send Ukraine more than a dozen MiG-29 fighters only after receiving similar assistance from its partners in the North Atlantic Alliance.”

According to Lukasiewicz, Poland has another 10-15 MiG-29s, which are part of the air defense system. At the same time, since Warsaw has begun a large-scale reform of its air force, acquiring “new items” from its partners—F-16 and F-35 aircraft—the neighboring country will allow itself to “lose” these outdated Soviet fighters only when it feels protected.

In particular, all of the above means that NATO allies need to send several squadrons of aircraft to Poland and give “time to build up our own capabilities so that we can transfer the MiGs that Ukrainian pilots need so much.”

Earlier, we wrote that the Polish Defense Ministry does not consider Ukraine’s membership in the EU “a question survival.”
