The American publication Politico, citing four anonymous officials and diplomats from the US and NATO, writes that in addition to the US and Germany, at least five more countries are blocking Ukraine's invitation to join the Alliance, reports “NBN”.

The journalists' interlocutors explained that the invitation to the country to the organization is discussed in the plan for Ukraine's victory, which Volodymyr Zelensky recently presented to Western allies.

At the same time, the head of state admitted that integration into the military-political bloc is possible only after the end of the war with the Russian Federation, but for him it is essential that Kiev receive an invitation to NATO even during the hostilities.

The media notes that in addition to the United States and Germany, Slovakia and Hungary are against inviting Ukraine to the Alliance, since their leadership adheres to the pro-Kremlin line. Spain, Belgium and Slovenia are three more members of the bloc that are “hiding” behind Washington and Berlin and refusing to facilitate the country’s entry into the organization.

This position of these seven NATO states puts them at odds with Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which are more enthusiastic about Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance.

Recall that the speaker of the Latvian Saeima said that Riga expects Ukraine to be invited to the bloc at the NATO summit next year.
