October 25 is Valery's angel day, this is the name comes from the Latin word valere, which means “to be strong, healthy.” This is an active, brave, attractive man who does not suffer from complexes. He does not change his principles and ideals, never stands still in achieving his goals, NBN reports.

On this day, Orthodox Ukrainians honor the memory of the martyrs Markian and Martyrius. The saints lived in the 3rd century AD in Constantinople and were Roman warriors, Markian was a commander, and Martyrius was a soldier. Being faithful Christians, they refused to worship the Roman gods, for which they were sentenced to death. The relics of the martyrs are kept in the catacombs of the Italian capital.

According to popular beliefs, today it is forbidden to slander, lie, gossip, refuse those in need of help. Our ancestors did not eat bread on this day, as they believed that the whole year would be difficult because of this, women avoided tears, so as not to bring trouble. To avoid great grief in the future, it was also not recommended to laugh a lot.

October 25 was popularly called Grandfather's Cry because of the tradition of honoring the memory of deceased family members.

Earlier we talked about the meaning of the names Alexey, Afanasy, Ivan, Peter and Nikolay.
