Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has said in an interview with the Standard that he has been the target of a second assassination attempt this month in in the city of Duklja, writes NBN.

Fico came there on the occasion of the anniversary of the Carpathian-Duklja operation in World War II. The event was also attended by the head of state, several members of the government and members of parliament.

According to a representative of Bratislava, a “very belligerent” man was detained in the city, who was found to have a fully loaded pistol. He allegedly wanted to kill the prime minister, whom he hates because of his position on Ukraine.

The head of government said that the attacker did not enter the area where the Slovak leadership was, but went to the area where there was a crowd. After passing through the metal detector, it was discovered that he had a weapon.

Recall that on May 15, an attempt was made to kill the Slovak prime minister in Handlova. Juraj Cintula is suspected of the assassination attempt on the politician. Fico claims that the shooter brought weapons to public meetings where he was present three times.

The head of the Slovak government reportedly predicted a quick end to the war in Ukraine.
