The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy met with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul to discuss Russia's aggression against Ukraine amid sending North Korean troops to Russia.
Borrell asks Seoul to increase support for Kyiv, the NBN publication reports, citing Reuters.
According to the politician, the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine is an existential threat, which is best understood by the South Korean leadership. The head of European diplomacy noted that the EU and Seoul are united in their support for Kyiv, and he calls for it to be strengthened.
Borrell visited the demilitarized zone between South Korea and the DPRK. He called this visit another reminder of the need to make more investments in achieving peace.
It should be noted that Seoul previously provided Kyiv with non-lethal assistance, in particular mine clearance equipment, but has not yet discussed the transfer of weapons.
At the same time, ISW analysts said that the South Korean authorities intend to expand support for Ukraine after Pyongyang sent its soldiers to the Russian Federation.
