With the start of a full-scale war, many Ukrainians began to switch to the Ukrainian language in everyday life, while some citizens do not realize that there is only one correct option for wishing a good start to the day, which must be remembered, the publication “NBN” reports.
Linguist Alexander Avramenko explained in an express lesson that, according to the rules of the Ukrainian language, you should always greet each other in the genitive case in the morning – “good morning“.
For example: “Good morning, boys and girls!” – said the tutor, joining the group.
According to the expert, there is also a single correct option for greetings during the day and in the evening, but in the nominative case – “good day” and “good evening“.
For example: “Good day, you, children!” – said the coachman, going into the group.
Interestingly, other Slavic languages also use forms in the nominative case to wish a good day: “good day” in Belarusian, “dobry den” in Czech, “dzień dobry” in Polish, “dobar dan” in Serbian and “dobry deň” in Slovak.
Recall that we talked about the meaning of the names Jan, Ilya, Simon and Ismail, whose name day is November 4.
